Yesterday ODM, a coalition partner withdrew 3 of its members from the controversy struck House Committee on Justice and Legal Affairs claiming it was awaiting a political solution to the problem. Well its an interesting twist considering the withdrawn chairman was voted out by the remaining committee members.
Am not sure what this portends for the committee whether or not it can still operate. Am not sure what the legal implications are but the question in my head is: Is this an strategic retreat or an am twist coz i know for a fact that the operations of the committee are hampered as they will have to sit down and reconstitute the committee again.
But who is the bigger loser here?
Isn’t it the wananchi who voted with enthusiasm for the new constitution?
If the committee keeps wrangling doesn’t it affect the several Judicial appointments that we need to implement the new constitution?
So enough with the arm twisting we do realize there in no good will to implement the new constitution and this delay tactics are not good especially as we draw closer to the elections.
My questions to Prof are these: Can’t we lose a battle but finish the war victorious? If the committee is in place then appoints have to continue. If its not then the opposing forces Win right?
Is that what we want?
Cant we collaborate for a greater good?
